Hi, I’m Poppy! I’m in my final year of BA English and Creative Writing at Exeter and will be going on next year to study MA Publishing. I’m really delighted to have been funded to work with Arts and Culture through the the University’s A2I program. Access to Internships provides students with the opportunity to apply for an internship not just in Exeter but all accross the UK. My internship with Arts and Culture will be taking place in this final stretch of the academic year, from now until summer! This is a particularly exciting opportunity for me because, whilst I’ve gained lots of experience over the last two or so years in social media and website management, it feels especially rewarding to finally be in a professional setting and have a taste of how my skills can be applicable in the real working world!

Something that’s new to me with this internship is working on larger collaborative projects, so I’m very much looking forward to being a part of these and working with such amazing creative talent. Home for me is Cornwall, so it’s lovely that Penryn’s Arts and Culture is intertwined with Exeter; it would be amazing to document creative processes on my own turf!

I’m studying publishing next year so, as you can imagine, I’m really fascinated by creative processes and the foundational work that goes into building the projects that we see all around us in galleries, exhibitions, theatres… looking deeper into how the sum of parts makes something whole and wonderful. I’m just generally so pleased to have been granted this opportunity by A2I, and I can’t wait to help share the brilliance of the artists and collaborators that work with Arts and Culture with the world!!
