ShortplayerProject Tue 22 – Mon 28 May 2018
Shortplayer is a fragment of Longplayer, a one thousand year long musical composition conceived and composed by artist Jem Finer and commissioned by Artangel. Longplayer began playing at midnight on the 31st of December 1999, and will continue without repetition until the last moment of 2999, at which point it will complete its cycle and begin again. It has been playing for eighteen years in Trinity Buoy Wharf, London, and in public listening posts around the world.
As well as helping bring the work to Exeter, Arts and Culture supported a public conversation exploring non-human scale from a number of perspectives, involving the artist Jem Finer and academics from the University.
