From 9 - 14 July the exhibition of the graphic novel Rock, Paper, Scissors – When microbes play games will be on display in the Spring Gallery at The Poly, Falmouth.
Rock, Paper, Scissors – When microbes play games is an educational graphic novel telling the toils and hardships of a cunning little virus triumphing over its enemies with the help of a valiant knight. It illustrates the intense struggles between viruses of bacteria and their bacterial hosts.
The graphic novel has beendeveloped under an intense collaboration between Andrei Serpe (3rd year Fine Art BA, Falmouth University) and Mariann Landsberger (postdoctoral researcher, University of Exeter). https://rpsnovel.tumblr.com/
The development of this book is funded and supported by the European Society for Evolutionary Biology, as well as the Genetics Society and the Environment and Sustainability Institute Creative Exchange Programme.
The exhibition will feature the graphic novel, character portraits, concept art and early sketches.
Opening hours for The Poly are: Monday: 5pm - 10pm, Tuesday - Saturday: 10 am - 10pm.
There will be a preview evening on Monday 9th July open to the public (6 pm -8.30 pm), There'll also be a presentation of the creative process, the graphic novel and the science behind it at the Poly on Wednesday 11th July as part of the Café Scientifique (start 7.45 pm).
