Secret Ingredients - Being Human Festivalevent Festival Tue 19 Nov 2019
Exeter Central Library
Castle Street, Exeter
Being Human is the UK’s only national festival of the humanities. A celebration of humanities research through public engagement, it is led by the School of Advanced Study at the University of London, the UK’s national centre for the pursuit, support and promotion of research in the humanities, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy. For this year's festival the theme is 'Discoveries and Secrets'.
Ingredients come in many forms: they may be the foods that make a particular dish or cuisine, or the special insights that advance human knowledge. Taking place at Exeter Central Library, this event will explore ingredients in all their varieties. Researchers from University of Exeter Archaeology, Classics and English will be on hand to explain the origins of the ingredients in our modern diet: why do we eat some plants and animals but not others, and should we be eating animals at all?
You will also be able enjoy a research ‘tasting menu’, whereby authors from across the arts and humanities will provide you with delicious morsels of their work, sharing the secret ingredients of their research.
The event is FREE and there is no need to book in advance.
